Signalling of Interest

There is robust expression of interest and intent of the government and judiciary to address this issue at scale in India.

The concepts behind BBS aren’t new - The government (politico-legal) has expressed a lot of interest for its individual building blocks through public speeches, policy memos, portals etc. - the approach to unlocking it in secure, sustainable manners to reach national scale is.

Area Proof of Interest How BBS supports it

Care for children

At the recent National Creators Awards, Honourable PM, Modi, recently expressed his desire for creating more awareness on serious issues of mental health and stress among children and also focusing on content creation in local languages [1].

BBS creates rails for pan-India free mental health support in local languages for all children.

Direct Access to Justice for kids

The NALSA (Child Friendly Legal Services to Children and their Protection) Scheme, 2015 states that “it is our obligation to the young generation to open up all opportunities including the legal services for every child to unfold its personality and rise to its full stature, physical, mental, moral and spiritual.” [2] However, it faces difficulty in implementation and monitoring for last mile contexts with heavy dependency on human resources and funding constraints

BBS helps in the implementation of this policy by leveraging tech

Child eFilling of cases

The POCSO eBox and Pencil Box give children direct agency to self-report crimes through their portal after providing details.

However, children might find it difficult to share details as a first layer without trust with the person on the other end or predictability on the next steps.

BBS allows children to build trust with the community through anonymous primary access , filters cases by urgency and helps children receive assistance in eFiling and predictability of next steps.

Tech x Justice x Children

The supreme court of India as well as the police system have shown great initiative in using technology to speed-up access to justice through initiatives like SUPACE and eFIRs. The Ministry of Education has shown the power of tech x children through the DIKSHA DPI in all govt schools to access pan-India resources.

BBS leverages DPI to build bridges between India’s care and justice resources and India’s children.
